Ministry Spotlight: Stewardship

Each week we’re spotlighting a ministry at St. Peter’s to show our mission in action. This week, we’re looking at our Stewardship Ministry.

Our Ministry

We are gifted by God with abundant blessings, and we strive to remind all believers of the additional blessing of returning a portion of these gifts to God through our stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Specifically, our stewardship ministry includes a year-round emphasis of stewardship awareness structured around an “Ask, Thank, Tell” philosophy, and programs like: stewardship blog posts; quarterly stewardship sermon Sundays; a two-envelope financial offering program for member’s use; and an active year-round “Time and Talent” ministry that seeks to connect church members to places of service for which they have a passion. Additionally, we sponsor a Fall Commitment Campaign, a Planned Giving Program, the Simply Giving automated contribution program, and periodic reminders of opportunities to grow in our lives as givers–Christians who seek to live into the biblical model of offering God a tithe (10%) of our blessings. In April we also launched a new digital giving platform Tithe.ly, which allows great flexibility in terms of automated giving, since it is a web based program, and has a greater variety of scheduling and giving options.

Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God.

–Hebrews 13:16

Committee Chairs Steve & Janet Roberts

“Janet and I moved to Lititz five years ago.  After 35+ years of very active involvement at Trinity Lutheran in Lansdale, we thought St. Peter’s was the perfect place to wind down and simply worship with no other involvement.  And now we find ourselves as chairpersons of Long Range Planning (Janet) and Stewardship.  We love it!  We have not only found a wonderful home at St. Peter’s but know that God and Pastor Ross had other plans for our golden years.”

Pastor of Christian Formation

I love working in a staff where we are able to use each other’s strengths for the glory of God. I am energized by the lay leaders of the church and the creative ways they can extend the mission of Jesus to congregational members and our community.
