Knowledge, Wisdom, and Teaching

College Devotion, Easter 5

Teach me good judgement and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments.

–Psalm 119:66

Today we spoke about “Knowledge, Wisdom, and Teaching” as the spiritual gifts for this week in our sermon series.  You guys should be the experts on this topic.  You cram your minds full of knowledge … you surround yourselves with teachers of all kinds … and you seek the wisdom to integrate it all.  I’m a fan of educational pursuits, obviously.  But recognize from whom that capacity to learn, and that desire to master information comes from.  And always recognize that the wisdom of the world is good, but God’s wisdom offers you a perspective that no book or professor can offer you.

We had high school senior recognition today at church.  We honored about eight graduating seniors who are moving forward with their education.  Do you ever think back to when you were ready to graduate and what you expected of your future?  Has your current reality met that expectation?  Have you taken any diverging paths?  Has God surprised you in ways you would not have expected?  Blessings to you as you start to close out your semester.  As always, make choices that you and your loved ones will be proud of.

Let us pray. We thank you Lord, for your leading, your encouragement, your gifts of educators and teachers, of friends and neighbors who have helped us and encouraged us to use our knowledge to continue on our faith journeys.  Amen.
