Pastor’s Email College Devotion

The Week of Easter 4

April 17, 2016

So with yourselves; since you are eager for spiritual gifts,

strive to excel in them for building up the church. (1 Corinthians 14:12)

We are halfway through our Easter Sermon Series on “spiritual gifts.”  Today we focused on gifts of “Artistry, Music, Skilled Craftsmanship, and Writing.”  Gifts that we tend to think of as especially gifted.  Not everyone can paint or sing or build a table or write in a compelling way.  But these gifts are seen in the same light as gifts of mercy, knowledge, service, leadership and others.  The fact that our spiritual gifts may be actions we cultivate instead of a talent we are blessed with does not diminish those gifts.

So … what are your gifts?  What do you believe God has placed within your life that demands to be expressed?  How do you change the world for the better?  How has God fashioned you to take some responsibility for those around you?  I bet you have more spiritual gifts than you are aware of.  Ask your parents … they will know what they are ….

As always, remember make choices that you and your loved ones will be proud of.

God of all beauty, compassion, and service, teach me about the gifts with which you have blessed me, and always give me the courage and desire to use those gifts wisely in service to you and to your children.  Amen.

discern Your will. Amen.
