Pastor’s Email College Devotion

The Week of Pentecost 24

November 8, 2015

And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.  (2 Corinthians 9:8, NRSV)

So where are the blessings in your life?   Good friends … people who have the courage to tell you the truth when you really need to hear it … a sound mind that allows you to pursue higher education … health and vitality … your faith in God (always a gift from God, and not our work) … the opportunity to be in a college environment … your family ………

Never forget that you are blessed.  Never forget the One from whom your blessings come to your life.  Take a moment this week … or better yet, every morning when you arise from sleep … to thank the God who has given you life and everything in it.

We had our Annual Congregational Meeting today.  Thanks to some of your parents who were in attendance, we can pay bills and salaries again next year, we can worship and carry out our ministries … and we can be led by elected Council leaders and officers.  Worship was great, too, with great music and a terrific Children’s Sermon.

Gracious God, you have made me and everything in my life.  Thank you for blessing me in so many ways, that I do not even consciously recognize some of those blessings.  Teach me gratitude, and give me the courage to use these blessings in service to you and others.  Amen.
